- كَظُلُمٰتٍمانند اندھیروں کے
- فِیْمیں
- بَحْرٍسمندر (میں)
- لُّجِّیٍّگہرے
- یَّغْشٰىهُڈھانپ لیتی ہے اس کو
- مَوْجٌایک لہر
- مِّنْکے
- فَوْقِهٖاس کے اوپر سے
- مَوْجٌایک موج۔ ایک لہر

- سَحَابٌ ؕبادل

- فَمَاتو نہیں

یا بہت گہرے سمندر میں اندھیروں کی مانند اسے ڈھانپ لیتی ہو ایک موج اس کے اوپر ہو ایک اور موج اس کے اوپر ہوں بادل اندھیرے ہی اندھیرے ہیں ایک دوسرے کے اوپر جب وہ اپنا ہاتھ نکالتا ہے تو اسے بھی نہیں دیکھ سکتا اور جس کو اللہ نے ہی کوئی نور عطا نہ کیا ہو تو اس کے لیے کہیں کوئی نور نہیں ہے

Commentary
آیت 40 اَوْ کَظُلُمٰتٍ فِیْ بَحْرٍ لُّجِّیٍّ یَّغْشٰہُ مَوْجٌ مِّنْ فَوْقِہٖ مَوْجٌ مِّنْ فَوْقِہٖ سَحَابٌ ط ”یعنی اندھیری رات ہے ‘ سمندر کی گہرائی میں موج در موج کی کیفیت ہے اور اوپر فضا میں گہرے بادل چھائے ہوئے ہیں۔ گویا روشنی کی کسی ایک کرن کا بھی کہیں کوئی وجود نہیں۔ ظُلُمٰتٌم بَعْضُہَا فَوْقَ بَعْضٍط اِذَآ اَخْرَجَ یَدَہٗ لَمْ یَکَدْ یَرٰٹہَا ط ”مطلق تاریکی absolute darkness کی اس کیفیت کو اردو محاورے میں یوں بیان کیا جاتا ہے کہ ہاتھ کو ہاتھ سجھائی نہیں دیتا۔ ایک فرینچ ایڈمرل اس آیت کو پڑھ کر مسلمان ہوگیا تھا۔ اس کی ساری عمر سمندروں میں گزری تھی اور پانی کے نیچے absolute darkness کی کیفیت اس نے اپنی آنکھوں سے دیکھی تھی۔ یہ آیت پڑ ھ کر اسے بجا طور پر یہ تجسسّ ہوا کہ کیا محمد ﷺ نے بحری سفر بھی کیے تھے ؟ اور جب اسے معلوم ہوا کہ آپ ﷺ نے کبھی بھی کوئی بحری سفر نہیں کیا تو اس نے اعتراف کرلیا کہ یہ ان ﷺ کا کلام نہیں اللہ کا کلام ہے ‘ کیونکہ ایسی تشبیہہ تو صرف وہی شخص دے سکتا ہے جو سمندر میں غوطہ خوری کرتا رہا ہو اور سمندر کی گہرائی میں اندھیروں کی کیفیت کو اپنی آنکھوں سے دیکھا چکا ہو۔وَمَنْ لَّمْ یَجْعَلِ اللّٰہُ لَہٗ نُوْرًا فَمَا لَہٗ مِنْ نُّوْرٍ ”یعنی وہ لوگ جن کی زندگیاں ملمع کی نیکیوں سے بھی خالی ہیں ان کے لیے اندھیرے ہی اندھیرے ہیں۔
