  1. لَوْاگر
  2. كَانَہوتا
  3. عَرَضًاسامان
  4. قَرِیْبًاقریب
  5. وَّسَفَرًااور سفر
  6. قَاصِدًاقریب کا۔ درمیانے درجے کا
  7. لَّاتَّبَعُوْكَالبتہ پیروی کرتے تیری
  8. وَلٰكِنْاور لیکن
  9. بَعُدَتْدور ہوگئی
  10. عَلَیْهِمُان پر
  11. الشُّقَّةُ ؕمسافت
  12. وَسَیَحْلِفُوْنَاور عنقریب وہ قسمیں کھائیں گے
  13. بِاللّٰهِاللہ کی
  14. لَوِاگر
  15. اسْتَطَعْنَااستطاعت رکھتے ہم
  16. لَخَرَجْنَاالبتہ نکلتے ہم
  17. مَعَكُمْ ۚتمہارے ساتھ
  18. یُهْلِكُوْنَوہ ہلاکت میں ڈال رہے ہیں
  19. اَنْفُسَهُمْ ۚاپنے نفسوں کو
  20. وَاللّٰهُاور اللہ
  21. یَعْلَمُجانتا ہے
  22. اِنَّهُمْبیشک وہ
  23. لَكٰذِبُوْنَالبتہ جھوٹے ہیں

Translation and commentary

Tafheem-ul-Quran

اے نبی ؐ اگر فائدہ سہل الحصُول ہوتا اور سفر ہلکا ہوتا تو وہ ضرور تمہارے پیچھے چلنے پر آمادہ ہو جاتے، مگر ان پر تو یہ راستہ بہت کٹھن ہو گیا۔1اب وہ خدا کی قسم کھا کھا کر کہیں گے کہ اگر ہم چل سکتے تو یقیناً تمہارے ساتھ چلتے!وہ اپنے آپ کو ہلاکت میں ڈال رہے ہیں۔ اللہ خوب جانتا ہے کہ وہ جھوٹے ہیں

  1. یعنی یہ دیکھ کر کہ مقابلہ روم جیسی طاقت  سے ہے اور زمانہ شدید گرمی کا ہے اور ملک میں قحط برپا ہے اور نئے سال کی فصلیں جن سے آس لگی ہوئی تھی، کٹنے کے قریب ہیں، ان کو تبوک کا سفر بہت  ہی گراں محسُوس ہونے لگا۔

Bayan-ul-Quran

اگر مال غنیمت قریب ہوتا اور سفر بھی چھوٹا ہوتا تو (اے نبی ﷺ یہ آپ کی پیروی کرتے لیکن ان کو تو بڑی بھاری پڑ رہی ہے دور کی مسافت اور عنقریب یہ لوگ قسمیں کھائیں گے اللہ کی کہ اگر ہمارے اندر استطاعت ہوتی تو ہم ضرور نکلتے تم لوگوں کے ساتھ یہ لوگ اپنے آپ کو ہلاک کر رہے ہیں اور اللہ کو معلوم ہے کہ یہبالکل جھوٹے ہیں

Commentary

آیت 42 لَوْ کَانَ عَرَضًا قَرِیْبًا وَّسَفَرًا قَاصِدًا لاَّتَّبَعُوْکَ وَلٰکِنْم بَعُدَتْ عَلَیْہِمُ الشُّقَّۃُ ط اگر ان منافقین کو توقع ہوتی کہ مال غنیمت آسانی سے مل جائے گا اور ہدف بھی کہیں قریب ہوتا تو یہ لوگ ضرور آپ ﷺ کا ساتھ دیتے ‘ مگر اب تو حالت یہ ہے کہ تبوک کی مسافت کا سن کر ان کے دل بیٹھے جا رہے ہیں۔ رسول اللہ ﷺ کی عادت مبارکہ تھی کہ آپ ﷺ کسی بھی مہم کے ہدف وغیرہ کو ہمیشہ صیغہ راز میں رکھتے تھے۔ جنگ یا مہم کے لیے نکلنا ہوتا تو تیاری کا حکم دے دیا جاتا ‘ مگر یہ نہ بتایا جاتا کہ کہاں جانا ہے اور منصوبہ کیا ہے۔ اسی طرح فتح مکہ کے منصوبہ کو بھی آخر وقت تک خفیہ رکھا گیا تھا۔ مگر غزوۂ تبوک کی تیاری کے حکم کے ساتھ ہی آپ ﷺ نے تمام تفصیلات بھی علی الاعلان سب کو بتادی تھیں کہ لشکر کی منزل مقصود تبوک ہے اور ہمارا ٹکراؤ سلطنت روما سے ہے ‘ تاکہ ہر شخص ہر لحاظ سے اپنا جائزہ لے لے اور داخلی و خارجی دونوں پہلوؤں سے تیاری کرلے۔ سازو سامان بھی مہیا کرلے اور اپنے حوصلے کی بھی جانچ پرکھ کرلے۔وَسَیَحْلِفُوْنَ باللّٰہِ لَوِ اسْتَطَعْنَا لَخَرَجْنَا مَعَکُمْ ج یعنی قسمیں کھا کھا کر بہانے بنائیں گے اور اپنی فرضی مجبوریوں کا رونا روئیں گے۔
