Surah 8, ayah 33

  1. وَمَااور نہیں
  2. كَانَہے
  3. اللّٰهُاللہ
  4. لِیُعَذِّبَهُمْکہ عذاب دے ان کو
  5. وَاَنْتَاور آپ
  6. فِیْهِمْ ؕان میں (موجود ہیں)
  7. وَمَااور نہیں
  8. كَانَہے
  9. اللّٰهُاللہ
  10. مُعَذِّبَهُمْعذاب دینے والا ان کو
  11. وَهُمْاس حال میں کہ وہ
  12. یَسْتَغْفِرُوْنَاستغفار کرتے ہوں

Translation and commentary

Tafheem-ul-Quran

اُس وقت تو اللہ ان پر عذاب نازل کرنے والا نہ تھا جبکہ تُو ان کے درمیان موجود تھا۔ اور نہ اللہ کا یہ قاعدہ ہے کہ لوگ استغفار کر رہے ہوں اور وہ اُن کو عذاب دیدے۔1

  1. یہ ان کے اس سوال کا جواب ہے  جو ان کی اوپر والی ظاہری دعامیں متضمن تھا ۔ اس جواب میں بتایا گیا ہے کہ اللہ تعالیٰ نے مکی دور میں کیوں عذاب نہیں بھیجا۔ اس کی پہلی وجہ یہ تھی کہ جب تک نبی  کسی بستی میں موجود ہو اور حق کی طرف دعوت دے رہا ہو اس وقت تک بستی کے لوگوں کو مہلت دی جاتی ہے اور عذاب بھیج کر قبل از وقت ان سے اصلاح پذیری کا موقع سلب نہیں کر لیاجاتا۔  اس کی دوسری وجہ یہ ہے کہ جب تک بستی میں سے ایسے لوگ پے در پے نکلتے چلے آرہے ہوں جو اپنی سابقہ غفلت اور غلط روی پر متنبہ ہو کر اللہ سے معافی کی درخواست کرتے ہوں اور آئندہ کے لیے اپنے رویہ کی اصلاح کر لیتے ہوں، اس وقت تک کوئی معقول وجہ نہیں ہے کہ اللہ تعالیٰ خواہ مخواہ اس بستی کو تباہ کر کے رکھ دے۔ البتہ عذاب کا اصلی وقت وہ ہوتا ہے جب نبی اس بستی پر حجّت پوری کرنے کے بعد  مایوس ہو کر وہاں سے نکل جائے یا نکال دی جائے یا قتل کر ڈالا جائے، اور وہ بستی اپنے طرزِ عمل سے ثابت کر دے کہ وہ کسی صالح عنصر کو اپنے درمیان برداشت کرنے کے لیے تیار نہیں ہے۔

Bayan-ul-Quran

اور اللہ ایسا نہ تھا کہ ان کو عذاب دیتا جبکہ (ابھی) آپ ﷺ ان کے درمیان موجود تھے اور اللہ ان کو عذاب دینے والا نہیں تھا جب کہ وہ استغفار بھی کر رہے تھے

Commentary (one passage for ayahs 8:33, 8:34)

آیت 33 وَمَا کَان اللّٰہُ لِیُعَذِّبَہُمْ وَاَنْتَ فِیْہِمْ ط اگرچہ وہ لوگ عذاب کے پوری طرح مستحق ہوچکے تھے ‘ لیکن جس طرح کے عذاب کے لیے وہ لوگ دعائیں کر رہے تھے ویسا عذاب سنت الٰہی کے مطابق ان پر اس وقت تک نہیں آسکتا تھا جب تک اللہ کے رسول ﷺ مکہ میں ان کے درمیان موجود تھے ‘ کیونکہ ایسے عذاب کے نزول سے پہلے اللہ تعالیٰ اپنے رسول علیہ السلام اور اہل ایمان کو ہجرت کا حکم دے دیتا ہے اور ان کے نکل جانے کے بعد ہی کسی آبادی پر اجتماعی عذاب آیا کرتا ہے۔ وَمَا کَان اللّٰہُ مُعَذِّبَہُمْ وَہُمْ یَسْتَغْفِرُوْنَ ۔اس لحاظ سے مکہ کی آبادی کا معاملہ بہت گڈ مڈ تھا۔ مکہ میں عوام الناس بھی تھے ‘ سادہ لوح لوگ بھی تھے جو اپنے طور پر اللہ کا ذکر کرتے تھے ‘ تلبیہ پڑھتے تھے اور اللہ سے استغفار بھی کرتے تھے۔ دوسری طرف اللہ کا قانون ہے جس کا ذکر اسی سورت کی آیت 37 میں ہوا ہے کہ جب تک وہ پاک اور ناپاک کو چھانٹ کر الگ نہیں کردیتا لِیَمِیْزَ اللّٰہُ الْخَبِیْثَ مِنَ الطَّیِّبِ اس وقت تک اس نوعیت کا عذاب کسی قوم پر نہیں آتا۔
