Translation and commentary

Tafheem-ul-Quran

اور وہ بات بھی یا د ہے جو اُنہوں نے کہی تھی کہ ”خدایا اگر یہ واقعی حق ہے اور تیری طرف سے ہے تو ہم پر آسمان سے پتھر برسا دے یا کوئی دردناک عذاب ہم پر لے آ۔“1

  1. یہ بات وہ دعا  کے طور پر نہیں کہتے تھے بلکہ چیلنج کے انداز میں کہتے تھے۔ یعنی ان کا مطلب یہ تھا  کہ اگر واقعی یہ حق ہوتا اور خدا کی طرف سے ہوتا تو اس کے جھٹلانے کا نتیجہ  یہ ہونا چاہیے تھا کہ ہم پر  آسمان سے پتھر برستے  اور عذاب الیم ہمارے اوپر ٹوٹ پڑتا۔ مگر جب ایسا نہیں ہوتا تو اس کے معنی یہ ہیں کہ یہ نہ حق ہے نہ منِ جانب اللہ ہے۔

Bayan-ul-Quran

اور جب انہوں نے کہا کہ اے اللہ ! اگر یہ (قرآن) تیری ہی طرف سے برحق ہے تو برسا دے ہم پر پتھر آسمان سے یابھیج دے ہم پر کوئی دردناک عذاب۔

Commentary

آیت 32 وَاِذْ قَالُوا اللّٰہُمَّ اِنْ کَانَ ہٰذَا ہُوَ الْحَقَّ مِنْ عِنْدِکَ فَاَمْطِرْ عَلَیْنَا حِجَارَۃً مِّنَ السَّمَآءِ اَوِ اءْتِنَا بِعَذَابٍ اَلِیْمٍ جیسا کہ پہلے بھی ذکر ہوچکا ہے کہ سرداران قریش کے لیے سب سے بڑا مسئلہ یہ پیدا ہوگیا تھا کہ مکہ کے عام لوگوں کو محمد رسول اللہ ﷺ کی دعوت کے اثرات سے کیسے محفوظ رکھا جائے۔ اس کے لیے وہ مختلف قسم کی تدبیریں کرتے رہتے تھے ‘ جن کا ذکر قرآن میں بھی متعدد بار ہوا ہے۔ اس آیت میں ان کی ایسی ہی ایک تدبیر کا تذکرہ ہے۔ ان کے بڑے بڑے سردار عوام کے اجتماعات میں علی الاعلان اس طرح کی باتیں کرتے تھے کہ اگر یہ قرآن اللہ ہی کی طرف سے نازل کردہ ہے اور ہم اس کا انکار کر رہے ہیں تو ہم پر اللہ کی طرف سے عذاب کیوں نہیں آجاتا ؟ بلکہ وہ اللہ کو مخاطب کر کے دعائیہ انداز میں بھی پکارتے تھے کہ اے اللہ ! اگر یہ قرآن تیرا ہی کلام ہے تو پھر اس کا انکار کرنے کے سبب ہمارے اوپر آسمان سے پتھر برسا دے ‘ یا کسی بھی شکل میں ہم پر اپنا عذاب نازل فرما دے۔ اور اس کے بعد وہ اپنی اس تدبیر کی خوب تشہیر کرتے کہ دیکھا ہماری اس دعا کا کچھ بھی ردِّ عمل نہیں ہوا ‘ اگر یہ واقعی اللہ کا کلام ہوتا تو ہم پر اب تک عذاب آچکا ہوتا۔ چناچہ اس طرح وہ اپنے عوام کو مطمئن کرنے کی کوشش کرتے تھے۔
