Tafheem-ul-Quran
پھر کیا تم اس وقت موجو د تھے جب یعقوب ؑ اس دنیا سے رخصت ہو رہا تھا؟ اس نے مر تے وقت اپنے بیٹوں سے پوچھا ”بچو!میرے بعد تم کس کی بندگی کرو گے ؟“ ان سب نے جواب دیا ”ہم اسی ایک خدا کی بندگی کریں گے ، جسے آپ نے اور آپ کے بزرگوں ابراھیم ؑ ، اسماعیل ؑ اور اسحاق ؑ نے خدا مانا ہےاور ہم اسی کے مسلم ہیں۔1“

بائیبل میں حضرت یعقوب ؑ کی وفات کا حال بڑی تفصیل سے لکھا گیا ہے ، مگر حیرت ہے کہ اس وصیّت کا کوئی ذکر نہیں ہے۔ البتہ تَلْموُد میں جو مفصّل وصیّت درج ہے، اس کا مضمون قرآن کے بیان سے بہت مشابہ ہے۔ اس میں حضرت یعقوب ؑ کے یہ الفاظ ہمیں ملتے ہیں: ”خداوند اپنے خدا کی بندگی کرتے رہنا ، وہ تمہیں اُسی طرح تمام آفات سے بچائے گا، جس طرح تمہارے آبا ؤ اجداد کو بچاتا رہا ہے۔۔۔۔۔ اپنے بچوں کو خدا سے محبت کرنے اور اس کے احکام بجا لانے کی تعلیم دینا تاکہ ان کی مُہلتِ زندگی دراز ہو، کیوں کہ خدا ان لوگوں کی حفاظت کرتا ہے ، جو حق کے ساتھ کام کرتے ہیں، اور اس کی راہوں پر ٹھیک ٹھیک چلتے ہیں۔“ جواب میں اُن کے لڑکوں نے کہا:”جو کچھ آپ نے ہدایت فرمائی ہے ہم اس کے مطابق عمل کریں گے۔ خدا ہمارے ساتھ ہو!“ تب یعقوب ؑ نے کہا”اگر تم خدا کی سیدھی راہ سے دائیں یا بائیں نہ مڑو گے ، تو خدا ضرور تمہارے ساتھ رہے گا۔“
