اور آسمان کی اور اُس ذات کی قسم جس نے اُسے قائم کیا،1

یعنی چھت کی طرح اُسے زمین پر اٹھا کھڑا کیا۔ اِس آیت اور اس کے بعد کی دو آیتوں میں مَا کا لفظ استعمال ہوا ہے یعنی مَا بَنٰھَا ، اور مَا طَحٰھَا اور مَا سَوّٰ ھَا ۔ اِس لفظ مَا کو مفسّرین کے ایک گروہ نے مصدری معنوں میں لیا ہے اور وہ اِن آیتوں کا مطلب یہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ آسمان اور اس کے قائم کیے جانے کی قسم، زمین اور اس کے بچھائے جانے کی قسم ، اور نفس اور اس کے ہموار کیے جانے کی قسم۔ لیکن یہ معنی اس لیے درست نہیں ہیں کہ ان تین فقروں کے بعد یہ فقرہ کہ” پھر اُس کی بدی اور اُس کی پرہیزگاری اُس پر الہام کر دی“ اِس سلسلۂ کلام کے ساتھ ٹھیک نہیں بیٹھتا ۔ دوسرے مفسّرین نے یہاں مَا کو مَنْ یا الذّی کے معنی میں لیا ہے، اور وہ اِن فقروں کا مطلب یہ لیتے ہیں کہ جس نے آسمان کو قائم کیا، جس نے زمین کو بچھایا اور جن نے نفس کو ہموار کیا۔ یہی دوسرا مطلب ہمارے نزدیک صحیح ہے، اور اس پر یہ اعتراض نہیں ہو سکتا کہ مَا عربی زبان میں بے جان اشیاء اور بے عقل مخلوقات کے لیے استعمال ہوتا ہے۔ خود قرآن میں اِس کی بکثرت مثالیں موجود ہیں کہ مَا کو مَنْ کے معنی میں استعمال کیا گیا ہے ۔ مثلًا وَلَآ اَنْتُمْ عَابِدُوْنَ مَآ اَعْبُدُ( اور نہ تم اس کی عبادت کرنے والے ہو جس کی میں عبادت کرتا ہوں)۔ فَا نْکِحُوْا مَا طَابَ لَکُمْ مِّنَ النِّسَآءِ ( پس عورتوں میں جو تمہیں پسند آئیں ان سے نکاح کر لو)۔ وَلَا تَنْکِحُوْا مَا نَکَحَ اٰ بَآ ؤُ کُمْ مِّنَ النِّسَآ ءِ ( اور جن عورتوں سے تمہارے باپوں نے نکاح کیا ہو ان سے نکاح نہ کرو)۔

Commentary (one passage for ayahs 91:4, 91:5)
آیت 4{ وَالَّـیْلِ اِذَا یَغْشٰٹہَا۔ } ”اور قسم ہے رات کی جب وہ اس سورج کو ڈھانپ لیتی ہے۔“ ان دونوں آیات کا مفہوم یوں ہوگا کہ دن سورج کو نمایاں کردیتا ہے جبکہ رات اسے ڈھانپ لیتی ہے۔
