چونکہ مُطقًا باپ اور اُس سے پیدا ہونے والی اولاد کے الفاظ استعمال کیے گئے ہیں اور آگے انسان کا ذکر کیا گیا ہے، اس لیے باپ سے مراد آدم علیہ السلام ہی ہو سکتے ہیں، اور ان سے پیدا ہونے والی اولاد سے مراد وہ تمام انسان ہیں جو دنیا میں پائے گئے ہیں، اب پائے جاتے ہیں اور آئندہ پائے جائیں گے۔

آیت 3{ وَوَالِدٍ وَّمَا وَلَدَ۔ } ”اور قسم ہے والد کی اور اولاد کی۔“ اس قسم میں اس مشقت اور ذمہ داری کی طرف اشارہ ہے جو ایک والد کو اپنی اولاد کی پرورش اور تربیت وغیرہ کے حوالے سے برداشت کرنی پڑتی ہے۔ اب اگلی آیت میں اس حقیقت یعنی مقسم علیہ کا ذکر ہے جس پر یہ قسمیں کھائی جا رہی ہیں :
