  1. اصل میں لفظ مُطَفِّفِیْن استعمال کیا گیا ہے جو تَطْفِیْف سے مشتق ہے  عربی زبان میں طَفَیْف چھوٹی اور حقیر چیز کے لیے بولتے ہیں اور تطیف کا لفظ اصطلاحاً ناپ تول میں چوری چھپے کمی کرنے کے لیے استعمال کیا جاتا ہے ، کیونکہ یہ کام کرنے والا ناپ کر یا تول کر چیز دیتے ہوئے کوئی بڑی مقدار نہیں اڑاتا بلکہ ہاتھ کی صفائی دکھا کر ہر خریدار کے حصے میں سے تھوڑا تھوڑا اڑا تا رہتا ہے اور خریدار بیچارے کو کچھ پتہ نہیں چلتا کہ تاجر اُسے کیا اور کتنا گھاٹا دے گیا ہے۔
