اور یاد کرو جب اس نے تمہیں جانشین بنایا قوم عاد (کی تباہی) کے بعد اور تمہیں جگہ دی زمین میں تم اس کے نرم میدانوں میں محل تعمیر کرتے ہو اور پہاڑوں کو تراش کر (بھی اپنے لیے) گھر بنالیتے ہو تو اللہ کی نعمتوں کو یاد رکھو اور مت پھرو زمین میں فساد مچاتے

آیت 74 وَاذْکُرُوْٓا اِذْ جَعَلَکُمْ خُلَفَآءَ مِنْم بَعْدِ عَادٍ وَّبَوَّاَکُمْ فِی الْاَرْضِ تَتَّخِذُوْنَ مِنْ سُہُوْلِہَا قُصُوْرًا وَّتَنْحِتُوْنَ الْجِبَالَ بُیُوْتًا ج۔ میدانی علاقوں میں وہ عالی شان محلات تعمیر کرتے تھے اور پہاڑوں کو تراش کر بڑے خوبصورت گھر بناتے تھے۔ اب ان محلات کا تو کوئی نام و نشان اس علاقے میں موجود نہیں ‘ البتہ پہاڑوں سے تراش کر بنائے ہوئے گھروں کے کھنڈرات اس علاقے میں آج بھی موجود ہیں۔ قوم ثمود حضرت ابراہیم علیہ السلام سے پہلے گزری ہے اور قوم عاد اس سے بھی پہلے تھی۔ اس طرح قوم ثمود کا زمانہ آج سے تقریباً چھ ہزار سال پہلے کا ہے جبکہ قوم عاد کو گزرے تقریباً سات ہزار سال ہوچکے ہیں۔
