- وَوٰعَدْنَااور وعدہ لیا ہم نے
- مُوْسٰیموسیٰ سے
- ثَلٰثِیْنَتیس
- لَیْلَةًراتوں کا
- وَّاَتْمَمْنٰهَااور ہم نے پورا کیا اس کو
- بِعَشْرٍساتھ دس کے
- فَتَمَّتو پورا ہوا
- مِیْقَاتُوعدہ۔ مقرر وقت
- رَبِّهٖۤاس کے رب کا
- اَرْبَعِیْنَچالیس
- لَیْلَةً ۚراتوں میں
- وَقَالَاور کہا
- مُوْسٰیموسیٰ نے
- لِاَخِیْهِاپنے بھائی
- هٰرُوْنَہارون سے
- اخْلُفْنِیْجان نشینی کرنا میری
- فِیْمیں
- قَوْمِیْمیری قوم (میں)
- وَاَصْلِحْاور اصلاح کرنا
- وَلَااور نہ
- تَتَّبِعْتم پیروی کرنا
- سَبِیْلَراستے کی
- الْمُفْسِدِیْنَفساد کرنے والوں کے

Translation and commentary
Bayan-ul-Quran
اور ہم نے بلایا موسیٰ ؑ ٰ کو تیس راتوں کے لیے اور مکمل کردیا ہم نے اس مدت کو دس (مزید راتوں) سے تو مدت پوری ہوگئی اس کے رب کی چالیس راتوں کی اور (جاتے ہوئے) کہا موسیٰ ؑ ٰ نے اپنے بھائی ہارون ؑ سے کہ میری قوم کے اندر میری نیابت کے فرائض ادا کرنا اصلاح کرتے رہنا اور فساد کرنے والوں کے راستے کی پیروی نہ کرنا۔

Commentary
آیت 142 وَوٰعَدْنَا مُوْسٰی ثَلٰثِیْنَ لَیْلَۃً یعنی کوہ سینا طور پر طلب کیا۔ عام طور پر اس طرح کہنے سے دن رات ہی مراد ہوتے ہیں ‘ لیکن عربی محاورہ میں رات کا تذکرہ کیا جاتا ہے۔وَّاَتْمَمْنٰہَا بِعَشْرٍ فَتَمَّ مِیْقَاتُ رَبِّہٖٓ اَرْبَعِیْنَ لَیْلَۃً ج۔ اس طرح حضرت موسیٰ علیہ السلام نے طور پر چلہ مکمل کیا ‘ جس کے دوران آپ نے لگاتار روزے بھی رکھے۔ ہمارے ہاں صوفیاء نے چلہ کاٹنے کا تصور غالباً یہیں سے لیا ہے۔
