فَاَرْسَلْنَاتو بھیجا ہم نے
عَلَیْهِمُان پر
الطُّوْفَانَطوفان
وَالْجَرَادَاور ٹڈی دل۔ ٹڈیاں
وَالْقُمَّلَسرسریاں۔ جوئیں
وَالضَّفَادِعَاور مینڈک
وَالدَّمَاور خون
اٰیٰتٍنشانیاں
مُّفَصَّلٰتٍ ۫وقفے وقفے میں۔ کھلی
فَاسْتَكْبَرُوْاتو انہوں نے تکبر کیا
وَكَانُوْااور وہ تھے
قَوْمًالوگ
مُّجْرِمِیْنَمجرم
۟

آخرِ کارہم نے ان پر طوفان بھیجا¹، ٹِڈی دل چھوڑے، سُرسُریاں پھیلائیں²، مینڈک نکالے، اور خون برسایا، یہ سب نشانیاں الگ الگ کر کے دکھائیں، مگر وہ سرکشی کیے چلے گئےاور بڑے ہی مجرم لوگ تھے

غالباً بارش کا طوفان مراد ہے جس میں اولے بھی برسے تھے۔ اگر چہ طوفان دوسری چیزوں کا بھی ہو سکتا ہے ، لیکن بائیبل میں ژالہ باری کے طوفان کا ہی ذکر ہے اس لیے ہم اسی معنی کو ترحیح دیتے ہیں۔
اصل میں لفظ قُمَّلْ استعمال ہوا ہے جس کے کئی معنی ہیں۔ جُوں مکھی ، چھوٹی ٹڈی ، مچھر، سُرسُری وغیرہ غالباً یہ جامع لفظ اس لیے استعمال کیا گیا ہے کہ بیک وقت جُوؤں اور مچھروں نے آدمیں پر اور سُرسُریوں (گُھن کے کیڑوں)نے غلہ کے ذخیروں پر حملہ کیا ہوگا۔(تقابل کے لیے ملاحظہ ہو بائیبل کی کتاب خروج، باب 7 تا 12، نیز الزُخرُف، حاشیہ 43)۔
