Translation and commentary
Tafheem-ul-Quran
کہو، وہ اِس پر قادر ہے کہ تم پر کوئی عذاب اُوپر سے نازل کردے، یا تمہارے قدموں کے نیچے سے برپا کردے، یا تمہیں گروہوں میں تقسیم کرکے ایک گروہ کو دُوسرے گروہ کی طاقت کا مزہ چکھوادے۔ دیکھو، ہم کس طرح بار بار مختلف طریقوں سے اپنی نشانیاں ان کے سامنے پیش کر رہے ہیں شاید کہ یہ حقیقت کو سمجھ لیں۔1

جو لوگ عذابِ الہٰی کو اپنے سے دُور پا کر حق دشمنی میں جرأت پر جرأت دکھا رہے تھے انہیں متنبّہ کیا جا رہا ہے کہ اللہ کے عذاب کو آتے کچھ دیر نہیں لگتی۔ ہوا کا ایک طوفان تمہیں اچانک برباد کر سکتا ہے۔ زلزلے کا ایک جھٹکا تمہاری بستیوں کو پیوندِ خاک کر دینے کے لیے کافی ہے ۔ قبیلوں اور قوموں اور ملکوں کی عداوتوں کے میگزین میں ایک چنگاری وہ تباہی پھیلا سکتی ہے کہ سالہا سال تک خونریزی و بدامنی سے نجات نہ ملے ۔ پس اگر عذاب نہیں آرہا ہے تو یہ تمہارے لیے غفلت و مدہوشی کی پِنَک نہ بن جائے کہ مطمئن ہو کر صحیح و غلط کا امتیاز کیے بغیر اندھوں کی طرح زندگی کے راستے پر چلتے رہو۔ غنیمت سمجھو کہ اللہ تمہیں مُہلت دے رہا ہے اور وہ نشانیاں تمہارے سامنے پیش کر رہا ہے جن سے تم حق کو پہچان کر صحیح راستہ اختیار کر سکو۔
