وہ جنّتی سبز قالینوں اور نفیس و نادر فرشوں1 پر تکیے لگا کے بیٹھیں گے

اصل میں لفظ عَبْقَرِی استعمال ہوا ہے۔ عرب جاہلیت کے افسانوں میں جنوں کے دارالسلطنت کا نام عَبْقَر تھا جسے ہم اردو میں پرستان کہتے ہیں۔ اسی کی نسبت سے عرب کے لوگ ہر نفیس و نادر چیز کی عَبْقَری کہتے تھے، گویا وہ پرستان کی چیز ہے جس کا مقابلہ اس دنیا کی عام چیزیں نہیں کر سکتیں۔ حتیٰ کہ ان کے محاورے میں ایسے آدمی کو بھی عبقری کہا جاتا تھا جو غیر معمولی قابلیتوں کا مالک ہو، جس سے عجیب و غریب کارنامے صادر ہوں۔ انگریزی میں لفظ (Genius) بھی اسی معنہ میں بولا جاتا ہے،اور وہ بھی Genii سے ماخوذ ہے جو جن کا ہم معنی ہے۔ اسی لیے یہاں اہل عرب کو جنت کے سروسامان کی غیر معمولی نفاست و خوبی کا تصور دلانے کے لیے عبقری کا لفظ استعمال کیا گیا ہے۔
