اُفق سے مراد ہے آسمان کا مشرقی کنارا جہاں سے سورج طلوع ہوتا ہے اور دن کی روشنی پھیلتی ہے ۔ اسی کو سورۃ تکویر کی آیت 23 میں اُفق مبین کہا گیا ہے ۔ دونوں آیتیں صراحت کرتی ہیں کہ پہلی مرتبہ جبریل علیہ السلام جب نبی صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم کو نظر آئے اس وقت وہ آسمان کے مشرقی کنارے سے نمودار ہوئے تھے ۔ اور متعدد و معتبر روایات سے معلوم ہوتا ہے کہاس وقت وہ اپنی اصلی صورت میں تھے جس میں اللہ تعالیٰ نے ان کو پیدا کیا ہے ۔ آ گئے چل کر ہم وہ تمام روایات نقل کریں گے جن میں یہ بات بیان کی گئی ہے ۔

آیت 7{ وَہُوَ بِالْاُفُقِ الْاَعْلٰی۔ } ”اور وہ افق اعلیٰ پر تھا۔“ یعنی حضور ﷺ نے حضرت جبرائیل علیہ السلام کو افق پر اپنی اصلی شکل میں دیکھا۔
