کہہ دیجیے اے اہل کتاب اپنے دین میں ناحق غلو نہ کرو اور مت پیروی کرو ان لوگوں کی بدعات کی جو تم سے پہلے (خود بھی) گمراہ ہوئے اور انہوں نے بہت سے دوسرے لوگوں کو بھی گمراہ کیا اور سیدھے راستے سے بھٹک گئے۔

Commentary
آیت 77 قُلْ یٰٓاَہْلَ الْکِتٰبِ لَا تَغْلُوْا فِیْ دِیْنِکُمْ غَیْرَ الْحَقِّ یہ تم نے حضرت عیسیٰ علیہ السلام کو محبت اور عقیدت کی وجہ سے جو کچھ بنا دیا ہے ‘ وہ سراسر مبالغہ ہے۔ حضور ﷺ کی شان میں بھی مبالغہ آرائی اگر لوگ کرتے ہیں تو محبت کی وجہ سے کرتے ہیں ‘ عشق رسول ﷺ کے نام پر کرتے ہیں ‘ عقیدت کے غلو کی وجہ سے کرتے ہیں۔ تو غلو مبالغہ درحقیقت انسان کو گمراہی کی طرف لے جاتا ہے۔ چناچہ اس سے منع کیا جا رہا ہے۔ َ وَلاَ تَتَّبِعُوْٓا اَہْوَآءَ قَوْمٍ قَدْ ضَلُّوْا مِنْ قَبْلُ جیسا کہ میں نے عرض کیا ہے ‘ یہ تثلیث مصر میں زمانۂ قدیم سے موجود تھی ‘ اسی کو انہوں نے اختیار کیا
