Translation and commentary

Tafheem-ul-Quran

تم تو موت کی تمنائیں کر رہے تھے! مگر یہ اس وقت کی بات تھی جب موت سامنے نہ آئی تھی ، لو اب وہ تمہارے سامنے آگئی اور تم نے اسے آنکھوں دیکھ لیا۔1

اور تم تو موت کی تمنا کر رہے تھے اس سے پہلے کہ اس سے ملاقات ہوتی سو اب تم نے اسے دیکھ لیا ہے اپنی آنکھوں سے

Commentary

آیت 143 وَلَقَدْ کُنْتُمْ تَمَنَّوْنَ الْمَوْتَ مِنْ قَبْلِ اَنْ تَلْقَوْہُ فَقَدْ رَاَیْتُمُوْہُ وَاَنْتُمْ تَنْظُرُوْنَ یہاں روئے سخن ان لوگوں کی طرف ہے جو نئے نئے ایمان لائے تھے اور ان میں سے خاص طور پر نوجوانوں نے کہا تھا کہ ہمیں تو شہادت چاہیے اور ہم تو کھلے میدان میں جا کر مقابلہ کریں گے۔ ان کے جذبات پر تھوڑا سا تبصرہ ہو رہا ہے کہ اس وقت تو جو شِ قتال اور ذوق شہادت کا اظہار ہو رہا تھا ‘ اب تم نے موت دیکھ لی ہے نا ! تو یہ ہے موت جسے انسان اتنی آسانی کے ساتھ قبول نہیں کرتا۔
