  1. وَكَمْاور کتنی ہی
  2. اَهْلَكْنَاہلاک کیں ہم نے

  4. قَرْیَةٍبستیوں میں (سے)
  5. بَطِرَتْاتراتی تھیں
  6. مَعِیْشَتَهَا ۚاپنی معیشت پر
  7. فَتِلْكَتو یہ
  8. مَسٰكِنُهُمْان کے گھر ہیں/ مسکن ہیں
  9. لَمْنہیں
  10. تُسْكَنْبسایا گیا
  11. مِّنْکے
  12. بَعْدِهِمْان کے بعد
  13. اِلَّامگر
  14. قَلِیْلًا ؕبہت تھوڑوں کو
  15. وَكُنَّااور تھے ہم
  16. نَحْنُہم
  17. الْوٰرِثِیْنَہی وارث ہونے والے

Translation and commentary

Tafheem-ul-Quran

اور کتنی ہی ایسی بستیاں ہم تباہ کر چکے ہیں جن کے لوگ اپنی معیشت پر اِترا گئے تھے۔ سو دیکھ لو، وہ ان کے مسکن پڑے ہوئے ہیں جن میں ان کے بعد کم ہی کوئی بسا ہے، آخر کار ہم ہی وارث ہو کر رہے۔1

  1. یہ ان کے عذر کا دوسرا جواب ہے اس کا مطلب یہ ہے کہ جس مال و دولت اور خوشحالی پر تم اِترائے ہوئے ہو، اور جس کے کھوئے جانے کے خطرے سے باطل پر جمنا اور حق سے منہ موڑنا چاہتے ہو، یہی چیز کبھی عاد اور ثمود اور سبا اور مدین  اور قوم لوط کے لوگوں کو بھی حاصل تھی۔ پھر کیا یہ چیز ان کو تباہی سے بچا سکی؟ آخر معیارِ زندگی کی بلندی ہی تو ایک مقصُود نہیں ہے کہ آدمی حق و باطل سے بے نیاز ہو کر بس اسی کے پیچھے پڑا رہے اور راہِ راست کو صرف اس لیے قبول کرنے سے انکار کر دے کہ ایسا  کرنے سے یہ گوہر مقصود ہاتھ سے جانے کا خطرہ ہے ۔ کہا تمہارے پاس اس کی کوئی ضمانت ہے کہ جن گمراہیوں اور بدکاریوں نے پچھلی قوموں کو تباہ کیا انہی پر اصرار کر کے تم بچے رہ جاؤ گے اور ان کی طرح تمہاری شامت کبھی نہ آئے گی؟

اور کتنی ہی بستیوں کو ہم نے ہلاک کردیا جو کہ اتراتی تھیں اپنی معیشت پر تو (دیکھ لو !) یہ ہیں ان کے (کھنڈر بنے ہوئے) گھر نہیں ہوئے ان میں رہنے والے ان کے بعد مگر بہت تھوڑے۔ اور ہم ہی (ان کے) وارث ہو کر رہے

Commentary

آیت 58 وَکَمْ اَہْلَکْنَا مِنْ قَرْیَۃٍم بَطِرَتْ مَعِیْشَتَہَا ج ”انہیں اپنے معاشی نظام کے استحکام پر بہت گھمنڈ تھا ‘ لیکن ان کی خوشحالی اور ان کی مستحکم معیشت انہیں اللہ کے عذاب سے نہ بچا سکی۔
