انہوں نے جواب دیا”کچھ بُت ہیں جن کی ہم پُوجا کرتے ہیں اور انہی کی سیوا میں ہم لگے رہتے ہیں۔“1

یہ جواب بھی محض یہ خبر دینے کے لیے نہ تھا کہ ہم بتوں کی پوجا کرتے ہیں ، کیونکہ سائل و مسئول دونوں کے سامنے یہ امر واقعہ عیاں تھا۔ اس جواب کی اصل روح اپنے عقیدے پر ان کا ثبات اور اطمینان تھا۔ گویا دراصل وہ یہ کہہ رہے تھے کہ ہاں ، ہم بھی جانتے ہیں کہ یہ لکڑی اور پتھر کے بت ہیں جن کی ہم پوجا کر رہے ہیں ، مگر ہمارا دین و ایمان یہی ہے کہ ہم ان کی پرستش اور خدمت میں لگے رہیں۔

آیت 68 وَاِنَّ رَبَّکَ لَہُوَ الْعَزِیْزُ الرَّحِیْمُ ”اللہ تعالیٰ بہت طاقتور اور سب پر غالب ہے۔ وہ جو چاہے حکم کرے ‘ مگر اس کے ساتھ ساتھ وہ رحیم بھی ہے اور اس کی رحمت کا تقاضا یہ ہے کہ مشرکین کو ایسا کوئی حسی معجزہ نہ دکھایا جائے جس سے ان کی مہلت ختم ہوجائے۔
