اور ہم ایک ایسی جماعت ہیں جس کا شیوہ ہر وقت چوکنّا رہنا ہے۔“1

یہ باتیں فرعون کی اس چھپی ہوئی خوف زدگی کو ظاہر کرتی ہیں جس پر وہ بے خوفی کا نمائشی پردہ ڈل رہا تھا۔ ایک طرف وہ جگہ جگہ سے فوجیں بھی فوری امداد کے لیے بلا رہا تھا جو اس بات کی کھلی علامت تھی کہ اسے بنی اسرائیل سے خطرہ محسوس ہو رہا ہے۔ دوسری طرف وہ اس بات کی چھپانا بھی چاہتا تھا کہ مدت ہائے دراز کی دبی اور پسی ہوئی قوم، جو انتہائی ذلت کی غلامی میں زندگی بسر کر رہی تھی، اس سے فرعون جیسا قاہر فرماں روا کوئی خطرہ محسوس کر رہا ہے حتّیٰ کہ اسے فوری امداد کے لیے فوجیں طلب کرنے کی ضرورت پیش آ گئی ہے۔ اس لیے وہ اپنا پیغام اس انداز میں بھجتا ہے کہ یہ بنی اسرائل بیچارے چیز ہی کیا ہیں ، کچھ مٹھی بھر لوگ ہیں جو ہمارا بال بھی بیکا نہیں کر سکتے ، لیکن انہوں نے ایسی حرکتیں کی ہیں کہ ہمیں ان پر غصہ آ گیا ہے اس لیے ہم انہیں سزا دینا چاہتے ہیں ، اور فوجیں ہم کسی خوف کی وجہ سے جمع نہیں کر رہے ہیں بلکہ یہ صرف ایک احتیاطی کار روائی ہے ، ہماری دانشمندی کا تقاضا یہی ہے کہ کوئی بعید سے بعید بھی امکانی خطرہ ہو تو ہم بر وقت اس کی سر کوبی کرنے کے لیے تیار رہیں۔
