اور ایسی باتیں کہتے ہیں جو کرتے نہیں ہیں1

یہ شاعروں کی ایک اور خصوصیت ہے جو نبی صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم کے طرز عمل کی عین ضد تھی۔ حضورؐ کے متعلق آپ کا ہر جاننے والا جانتا تھا کہ آپ جو کہتے ہیں وہی کرتے ہیں اور جو کرتے ہیں وہی کہتے ہیں۔ آپ کے قول اور فعل کی مطابقت ایسی صریح حقیقت تھی جس سے آپ کے گرد و پیش کے معاشرے میں کوئی انکار نہ کر سکتا تھا۔ اس کے برعکس شعراء کے متعلق کس کو معلوم نہ تھا کہ ان کے ہاں کہنے کی باتیں اور ہیں اور کرنے کی اور۔ سخاوت کا مضمون اس زور شور سے بیان کریں گے کہ آدمی سمجھے شاید ان سے بڑھ کر دریا دل کوئی نہ ہو گا۔ مگر عمل میں کوئی دیکھے تو معلوم ہو گا کہ سخت بخیل ہیں۔ بہادری کی باتیں کریں گے مگر خود بزدل ہوں گے۔ بے نیازی اور قناعت و خود داری کے مضامین باندھیں گے مگر خود حرص و طمع میں ذلت کی آخری حد کو پار کر جائی گے۔ دوسروں کی ادنیٰ کمزوریوں پر گرفت کریں گے مگر خود بد ترین کمزوریوں میں مبتلا ہوں گے۔
