تو کس چیز نے تمہارا ہاتھ پکڑا تھا کہ میرے طریقے پر عمل نہ کرو؟ کیا تم نے میرے حکم کی خلاف ورزی کی؟“1

حکم سے مراد وہ حکم ہے جو پہاڑ پر جاتے وقت ، اور اپنی جگہ حضرت ہارون کو بنی اسرائیل کی سرداری سونپتے وقت حضرت موسیٰ نے دیا تھا ۔ سورۂ اعراف میں اسے اِن الفاظ میں بیان کیا گیا ہے : وَقَالَ مُوْسیٰ لِاَخِیْہِ ھٰرُوْنَ اخْلُفْنِیْ فِیْ قَوْمِیْ وَاَصْلِحْ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ سَبِیْلَ الْمُفْسِدِیْنَ، ”اور موسیٰ نے (جاتے ہوئے) اپنے بھائی ہارون سے کہا کہ تم میری قوم میں میری جانشینی کرو اور دیکھو ، اصلاح کرنا ، مفسدوں کے طریقے کی پیروی نہ کرنا“۔ (آیت 142)۔
