  1. وَاَوْفُوْااور پورا کرو
  2. بِعَهْدِعہد کو
  3. اللّٰهِاللہ کے
  4. اِذَاجب
  5. عٰهَدْتُّمْعہد کرو تم
  6. وَلَااور نہ
  7. تَنْقُضُواتم توڑو
  8. الْاَیْمَانَقسموں کو
  9. بَعْدَبعد
  10. تَوْكِیْدِهَاان کو پکا کرنے کے
  11. وَقَدْحالانکہ تحقیق
  12. جَعَلْتُمُبنا لیا تم نے
  13. اللّٰهَاللہ کو
  14. عَلَیْكُمْاپنے اوپر
  15. كَفِیْلًا ؕضامن۔ ذمہ دار
  16. اِنَّبیشک
  17. اللّٰهَاللہ تعالیٰ
  18. یَعْلَمُوہ جانتا ہے
  19. مَاجو
  20. تَفْعَلُوْنَتم کرتے ہو

Translation and commentary

Tafheem-ul-Quran

اللہ کے عہد کو پورا کرو جبکہ تم نے اس سے کوئی عہد باندھا ہو، اور اپنی قسمیں پختہ کرنے کے بعد توڑ نہ ڈالو جبکہ تم اللہ کو اپنے اوپر گواہ بنا چکے ہو اللہ تمہارے سب افعال سے باخبر ہے

Bayan-ul-Quran

اور اللہ کے عہد کو پورا کرو جب کہ تم عہد کرچکے ہو اور اپنی قسموں کو مت توڑو مضبوطی سے باندھنے کے بعد جبکہ تم اللہ کو اپنے اوپر گواہ ٹھہرا چکے ہو یقیناً اللہ جانتا ہے جو کچھ تم کر رہے ہو

Commentary

آیت 91 وَاَوْفُوْا بِعَهْدِ اللّٰهِ اِذَا عٰهَدْتُّمْ یہاں بنی اسرائیل کا وہ وعدہ مراد ہے جس کی تفصیل بعد میں مدنی سورتوں میں آئی۔ مدنی سورتوں میں ان کے اس عہد کا بار بار ذکر کیا گیا ہے : وَاِذْ اَخَذْنَا مِیْثَاقَکُمْ البقرۃ : 63۔ یہاں پر اس عہد کی تفصیل میں جائے بغیر صرف اس کا تذکرہ کردیا گیا کہ ”عاقلاں را اشارہ کافی است“۔ مقصد یہ تھا کہ بنی اسرائیل کے صاحبان علم و بصیرت بات کو سمجھنا چاہیں تو سمجھ لیں۔اِنَّ اللّٰهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَفْعَلُوْنَ یعنی یہ عہد تم نے اللہ کو گواہ بنا کر اور اللہ کی قسمیں کھا کر باندھا ہوا ہے۔
