حَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاقُ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ، عَنِ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ، سَأَلْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أَبِي أَوْفَى هَلْ رَجَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ نَعَمْ. قُلْتُ قَبْلَ سُورَةِ النُّورِ أَمْ بَعْدُ قَالَ لاَ أَدْرِي.
مجھ سے اسحاق واسطی نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے خالد طحان نے بیان کیا، ان سے شیبانی نے کہا میں نے عبداللہ بن ابی اوفی رضی اللہ عنہ سے پوچھا کیا رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کسی کو رجم کیا تھا؟ انہوں نے کہا کہ ہاں میں نے پوچھا: سورۃ النور سے پہلے یا اس کے بعد کہا کہ یہ مجھے معلوم نہیں ( امر نامعلوم کے لیے اظہار لاعلمی کر دینا بھی امر محمود ہے ) ۔
