حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، يَقُولُ بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم خَيْلاً قِبَلَ نَجْدٍ، فَجَاءَتْ بِرَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي حَنِيفَةَ يُقَالُ لَهُ ثُمَامَةُ بْنُ أُثَالٍ، فَرَبَطُوهُ بِسَارِيَةٍ مِنْ سَوَارِي الْمَسْجِدِ.
ہم سے قتیبہ بن سعید نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم سے لیث بن سعد نے سعید بن ابی سعید مقبری کے واسطہ سے بیان کیا انہوں نے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے سنا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کچھ سواروں کو نجد کی طرف بھیجا تھا۔ وہ لوگ بنو حنیفہ کے ایک شخص ثمامہ بن اثال کو ( بطور جنگی قیدی ) پکڑ لائے اور مسجد میں ایک ستون سے باندھ دیا۔
