حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الآيَةُ فِينَا {إِذْ هَمَّتْ طَائِفَتَانِ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ تَفْشَلاَ} بَنِي سَلِمَةَ وَبَنِي حَارِثَةَ، وَمَا أُحِبُّ أَنَّهَا لَمْ تَنْزِلْ، وَاللَّهُ يَقُولُ {وَاللَّهُ وَلِيُّهُمَا}
ہم سے محمد بن یوسف نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے ابن عیینہ نے بیان کیا، ان سے عمرو نے، ان سے جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہما نے بیان کیا کہ یہ آیت ہمارے بارے میں نازل ہوئی تھی «إذ همت طائفتان منكم أن تفشلا» ( آل عمران: 122 ) یعنی بنی حارثہ اور بنی سلمہ کے بارے میں۔ میری خواہش نہیں ہے کہ یہ آیت نازل نہ ہوتی، جب کہ اللہ آگے فرما رہا ہے «والله وليهما» ”اور اللہ ان دونوں جماعتوں کا مددگار تھا۔“
