حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَبَايَةَ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي رَافِعُ بْنُ خَدِيجٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ " الْحُمَّى مِنْ فَوْرِ جَهَنَّمَ، فَأَبْرِدُوهَا عَنْكُمْ بِالْمَاءِ ".
مجھ سے عمرو بن عباس نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے عبدالرحمٰن بن مہدی نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے سفیان ثوری نے بیان کیا، ان سے ان کے باپ نے، ان سے عبایہ بن رفاعہ نے بیان کیا، کہا مجھ کو رافع بن خدیج رضی اللہ عنہ نے خبر دی کہ میں نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے سنا، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا تھا کہ بخار جہنم کے جوش مارنے کے اثر سے ہوتا ہے اس لیے اسے پانی سے ٹھنڈا کر لیا کرو۔
