  1. أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ وَأُحَاذِرُ

    I seek refuge in Allah and His power from the evil of what I feel and fear.

    Placing the hand on the place of pain and saying “bismillah” three times first.

  2. سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ

    Glory be to Allah.

    When something amazes you.

  3. اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ

    Allah is the Greatest.

    When something amazes you.

  4. الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي بِنِعْمَتِهِ تَتِمُّ الصَّالِحَاتُ

    All praise is for Allah, by whose favour good things are completed.

    On receiving news that pleases.

    Said once.

  5. الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ حَالٍ

    All praise is for Allah in every state.

    On receiving news that displeases.

  6. لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ

    There is no god but Allah.

    At a sudden fright.

    Said once.

  7. بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُمَّ مِنْكَ وَلَكَ، اللَّهُمَّ تَقَبَّلْ مِنِّي

    In the name of Allah, and Allah is the Greatest. O Allah, from You and to You. O Allah, accept this from me.

    When slaughtering an animal.

  8. أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ الَّتِي لَا يُجَاوِزُهُنَّ بَرٌّ وَلَا فَاجِرٌ، مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ وَبَرَأَ وَذَرَأَ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا يَنْزِلُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا يَعْرُجُ فِيهَا، وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا ذَرَأَ فِي الْأَرْضِ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا يَخْرُجُ مِنْهَا، وَمِنْ شَرِّ فِتَنِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ طَارِقٍ إِلَّا طَارِقًا يَطْرُقُ بِخَيْرٍ يَا رَحْمَٰنُ

    I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah, which no righteous or wicked person can exceed, from the evil of what He created, made and spread; from the evil of what comes down from the sky and what goes up into it; from the evil of what He spread on the earth and what comes out of it; from the evil of the trials of night and day; and from the evil of every visitor at night, except a visitor who comes with good, O Most Merciful.

    For protection from the evil of devils.

  9. أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ

    I seek refuge in Allah from Satan the outcast.

    On hearing a donkey bray, or dogs bark at night.

  10. اللَّهُمَّ فَأَيُّمَا مُؤْمِنٍ سَبَبْتُهُ فَاجْعَلْ ذَٰلِكَ لَهُ قُرْبَةً إِلَيْكَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ

    O Allah, for any believer I have insulted, make that a means of nearness to You on the Day of Resurrection.

    After having insulted someone.

    Said once.

  11. أَحْسِبُ فُلَانًا وَاللَّهُ حَسِيبُهُ، وَلَا أُزَكِّي عَلَى اللَّهِ أَحَدًا، أَحْسِبُهُ كَذَا وَكَذَا

    I consider so-and-so to be such, and Allah is his Reckoner; I do not declare anyone pure before Allah.

    When one must praise another Muslim, if one knows it to be so.

    Said once.

  12. السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

    Peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.

    The greeting of peace.

  13. وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّلَامُ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

    And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.

    Replying to the greeting of peace.

  14. وَعَلَيْكُمْ

    And upon you.

    When the People of the Book greet with a salam.
