  1. الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ

    All praise is for Allah.

    After sneezing. The one who hears it says: yarhamuka Allah (may Allah have mercy on you).

    Said once.

  2. يَهْدِيكُمُ اللَّهُ وَيُصْلِحُ بَالَكُمْ

    May Allah guide you and set your affairs right.

    The sneezer's reply to “yarhamuka Allah”.

    Said once.

  3. يَهْدِيكُمُ اللَّهُ وَيُصْلِحُ بَالَكُمْ

    May Allah guide you and set your affairs right.

    To a non-Muslim who sneezes and praises Allah.

    Said once.

  4. بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ، وَبَارَكَ عَلَيْكَ، وَجَمَعَ بَيْنَكُمَا فِي خَيْرٍ

    May Allah bless you, shower blessings upon you and unite you both in goodness.

    To the newly married.

    Said once.

  5. اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَهَا وَخَيْرَ مَا جَبَلْتَهَا عَلَيْهِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهَا وَشَرِّ مَا جَبَلْتَهَا عَلَيْهِ

    O Allah, I ask You for her good and the good You have made her naturally inclined to, and I seek refuge in You from her evil and the evil You have made her naturally inclined to.

    After marrying, or when buying a servant or an animal.

    Sunan Abi Dawud; Sunan Ibn Mājah · Narrated by ʿAmr ibn Shuʿayb

    Said once.

  6. بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، اللَّهُمَّ جَنِّبْنَا الشَّيْطَانَ وَجَنِّبِ الشَّيْطَانَ مَا رَزَقْتَنَا

    In the name of Allah. O Allah, keep Satan away from us and keep Satan away from what You provide for us.

    Before marital relations.

    Said once.

  7. أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ

    I seek refuge in Allah from Satan the outcast.

    When angry.

    Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim · Narrated by Sulaymān ibn Ṣurad

    Said once.

  8. الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي عَافَانِي مِمَّا ابْتَلَاكَ بِهِ، وَفَضَّلَنِي عَلَىٰ كَثِيرٍ مِمَّنْ خَلَقَ تَفْضِيلًا

    All praise is for Allah who spared me what He tested you with and favoured me over many of those He created.

    On seeing someone afflicted. Said quietly, so as not to hurt them.

    Jamiʿ al-Tirmidhi · Narrated by Abu Hurayrah and ʿUmar

    Said once.

  9. رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَتُبْ عَلَيَّ، إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الْغَفُورُ

    My Lord, forgive me and accept my repentance; You are the Accepting of repentance, the Forgiving.

    In a gathering. The Prophet was counted saying it a hundred times in one sitting.

    Sunan Abi Dawud; Jamiʿ al-Tirmidhi; Sunan Ibn Mājah · Narrated by ʿAbdullah ibn ʿUmar

    Said 100 times.

  10. سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، أَسْتَغْفِرُكَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْكَ

    Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise be to You. I bear witness that there is no god but You. I ask Your forgiveness and I turn to You in repentance.

    At the end of a gathering.

    Sunan Abi Dawud; Jamiʿ al-Tirmidhi; Sunan al-Nasāʾi · Narrated by Abu Hurayrah and ʿAʾıshah

    Said once.

  11. وَلَكَ

    And for you.

    To someone who says “may Allah forgive you”.

    Musnad Ahmad; al-Nasāʾi, ʿAmal al-Yawm wa’l-Laylah · Narrated by ʿAbdullah ibn Sarjis

    Said once.

  12. جَزَاكَ اللَّهُ خَيْرًا

    May Allah reward you with good.

    To someone who did you a favour.

    Jamiʿ al-Tirmidhi · Narrated by Usāmah ibn Zayd

    Said once.

  13. أَحَبَّكَ الَّذِي أَحْبَبْتَنِي لَهُ

    May He for whose sake you love me love you.

    To someone who says “I love you for the sake of Allah”.

    Sunan Abi Dawud · Narrated by Anas ibn Mālik

    Said once.

  14. بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ فِي أَهْلِكَ وَمَالِكَ

    May Allah bless you in your family and your wealth.

    To someone who offers you their wealth.

    Sahih al-Bukhari · Narrated by ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAwf

    Said once.

  15. بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ فِي أَهْلِكَ وَمَالِكَ، إِنَّمَا جَزَاءُ السَّلَفِ الْحَمْدُ وَالْأَدَاءُ

    May Allah bless you in your family and your wealth. The reward of a loan is praise and repayment.

    To someone who lent you money, when repaying.

    al-Nasāʾi, ʿAmal al-Yawm wa’l-Laylah; Sunan Ibn Mājah · Narrated by ʿAbdullah ibn Abī Rabīʿah

    Said once.

  16. اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ أُشْرِكَ بِكَ وَأَنَا أَعْلَمُ، وَأَسْتَغْفِرُكَ لِمَا لَا أَعْلَمُ

    O Allah, I seek refuge in You from associating anything with You knowingly, and I ask Your forgiveness for what I do not know.

    Fearing shirk.

    Musnad Ahmad · Narrated by Abu Mūsā al-Ashʿarī

    Said once.

  17. اللَّهُمَّ لَا طَيْرَ إِلَّا طَيْرُكَ، وَلَا خَيْرَ إِلَّا خَيْرُكَ، وَلَا إِلَٰهَ غَيْرُكَ

    O Allah, there is no omen except Your omen, no good except Your good, and no god but You.

    If one dislikes a bad omen.

    Musnad Ahmad; Ibn al-Sunnī, ʿAmal al-Yawm wa’l-Laylah · Narrated by ʿAbdullah ibn ʿAmr

    Said once.
